I'm building a life centred around curiosity, hard work and growth.

I'm Caleb O'Leary, a student from Cairns, curious about people, meaningful work and continual growth. This is my notebook. A place to document the projects I build, the ideas I explore and the experiences that continue to shape me.

I like turning vague ideas into things people can actually use.

I've always been the sort of person who asks one extra question. If something works, I want to know why. If something feels unnecessarily complicated, I'll probably try to simplify it. It's a habit that's led me into some fairly different places, from building websites and digital products to working in hospitality, volunteering and developing a genuine interest in psychology.

I'm fascinated by people. Why we think the way we do, how small decisions shape bigger outcomes and why the simplest solutions are usually the hardest to find. Most of the projects on this site started because I couldn't stop thinking about a problem until I'd tried to improve it.

When I'm not building something, I'm usually working in a café kitchen, volunteering or disappearing down another rabbit hole that seemed much smaller when I started. This website is where all of that ends up. Partly so other people can see what I'm working on, but mostly so future me can remember how I got here.

Things I’ve built

Projects with a point.

A mix of paid work, experiments and ideas that escaped the notes app.

Things I’ve written

Notes from the rabbit holes.

Articles about technology, psychology, work and whatever else refused to leave my head quietly.

The general approach

“Make it clear, make it useful, and remove anything that only exists to look impressive.”

Still working on applying that last part to browser tabs.

Now

What I’m actually doing all day.

Working on

Projects that solve real problems.

Lately that's been websites, digital resources and a few ideas that started as "this should exist" and somehow became actual projects. I enjoy taking messy ideas and turning them into something people can genuinely use.

Thinking about

People, psychology and whatever I'm curious about next.

I'm fascinated by why people think the way they do, how small decisions shape bigger outcomes and how you can keep improving without making life unnecessarily complicated.

Away from the keyboard

Hospitality, volunteering and saying yes to new experiences.

Most weeks you'll find me in a café kitchen, volunteering through the Duke of Edinburgh Award or slowly improving my Spanish. They're all different, but they teach the same things: work hard, stay curious and keep getting a little better.
